The spring rendezvous was a huge success! Thanks
to all the volunteers that came and helped out. We
had about 20 frontiersmen show up to work on Saturday
April 16th. We put up 3-4 more layers of the cabin.
This required an extreme amount of muscle to lift
up the huge logs high upon the top of the cabin. We
then put the roof over the porch, added the long ridge
pole centered along the length of the cabin, and began
to put up trusses along sides of the ridge pole. What
is left to complete on the cabin you ask ? Well, Chuck
will be putting in the floor of the cabin as well
as the door soon. We must complete the trusses along
the length of the cabin and attach cedar shingle squares
to the trusses. A few CLR volunteers are hunting for
cedar shingle squares now (If you have access to get
some donated, please contact FOTF ASAP!).
We worked for 8 hours on Saturday towards the completion
of the cabin. I am so proud of the time and efforts
the volunteers put in. THANK YOU! Please enjoy the
pictures of the cabin and the workday. I am very excited
about this summer... live the code!
